[00:00:01.81] The name of my firm is Foley Griffin. The focus of our practice is twofold. I’m the partner in charge of our Personal Injury Department at the firm.
[00:00:09.60] My experience as an attorney began in the Nassau County District Attorney’s office. I spent three years there as a trial prosecutor. One of the things that you learn as a prosecutor is the art of persuasion.
[00:00:22.77] And one of the most important things that a trial attorney can do is to persuade a jury that your position is the correct position. And I’ve used that experience, and I’ve used those skills, to convince juries as a personal injury attorney, as to the merits of my clients’ cases. And that has led to some very significant recoveries for my clients.
[00:00:44.54] The reason that I got involved in handling cases of personal injuries is because it gives me an opportunity to really help people in their time of need. Many times, people don’t realize how important it is to have an attorney, until they’ve been involved in an accident.
[00:01:00.12] The cases that we handle are cases where people have been injured on Long Island, Nassau-Suffolk County. We also have a large number of cases in the five boroughs– Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. One of the things that we do in order to maximize our client’s recovery is to conduct a full and thorough investigation immediately after an accident happens.
[00:01:23.91] We have found over the years that the best thing that we can do is to investigate as close to the accident as possible, to make sure that we can accurately portray the conditions as they were on the day that the person was injured. We’ve found, over the years, that it’s important to limit the number of cases that we take into the firm. This allows us, as attorneys, to focus in on those cases that are in the office, so that we can provide excellent service to our clients.
[00:01:52.65] One of a person’s biggest fears when they’ve been involved in an accident is the fear of the unknown. They don’t know if they’re going to get compensation for their lost wages. They don’t know if they’re going to get better from their injuries. And they don’t know who’s going to provide for them or their families, in the event that they’re incapacitated from this accident. And what we do is try to answer, as best we can, all of their questions and give them a realistic outlook as to the outcome of their case and the time frame when their case may resolve.
[00:02:22.63] The type of cases that I handle are generally where people have been involved in a motor vehicle accident or where they’ve been injured at a building or on a public street. Those are the vast majority. But there are cases involving assault and battery or negligent-security type of claims.
[00:02:41.18] We get involved right from the beginning, immediately after the accident happened. We help the people with their property-damage claim. We help with their claim getting lost wages. We help with obtaining proper medical treatment, if needed. We handle a lot of different concerns that a client has that arise after an accident.
